Definition

The root of Japanese knotweed is one of the richest sources of resveratrol known. Resveratrol is a polyphenol from the stilbenes class present in certain fruits such as grapes, blackberries or peanuts. It is found in significant quantities in wine where its presence has been mentioned to explain the beneficial health effects of moderate wine consumption.
